King William St. was bustling Labour Day weekend as thousands turned up for a celebration of art, music and local food at the 2009 Annual Mustard Festival in Hamilton's Business Improvement Area. This year, onlookers soaked up the sun while watching live band performances and shopping at one of the festivals fifteen vendor booths in the MustART section.
There was no shortage of beautiful jewelry displays, art work and handmade crafts. Kelly Wolf, Melanie Skene and Simon C. De Abreu had the opportu-nity to showcase their creativity in a unique style. For the first time in the city's history, three light art statues were created using simplistic materials, such as bike parts, balloons, and other recycled goods. With light as the me-dium, the artists created spectacular pieces of art. Arts Hamilton also gave Russ Smith the chance to create a mural on the street with chalk,
"My friends and I were very impressed with the variety and quality of beauti-ful artistic products for sale, and our younger cousins got such a kick out of the chalk art exhibition! It was a blast!" said a visitor at the event.
Support for the MustART celebration was not only shown through a remark-able turnout from visitors, but also by the number of sponsorships. This year's sponsors included, Canadian Heritage, The Ontario Trillium Founda-tion, BizClip , Historia Restorations, and Dollaricious.
